Digital storytelling can be a beneficial tool in the classroom. Digital storytelling is a short form of digital media production that allows people to share aspects of their story. Digital storytelling can capture an audience’s attention and encourage engagement. This is why it’s a perfect tool for any classroom!

A great way to incorporate digital storytelling could be adding it to a PBL lesson. For example, I have an example clip that I’m going to share about the planet Saturn. This assignment is an extension of my PBL unit on the planets.

I’d have my students pick a planet that they’d like to pretend that they live on. Then, they would need to describe the planet (size, temperature, time, etc.) and encourage listeners to take a trip to their planet! Essentially, they’d be making a pitch as to why one should visit the planet they are from. This assignment is also a great assessment tool to see if the students have an understanding of the planet’s characteristics!

Here is the example video of what a student’s assignment on the planet would look like. I hope this gave you some new ideas for your own classroom activities!
